Basilicata, Italy’s food haven

The cuisine of Basilicata draws its influence from the region’s geographical location, with ingredients such as flavoursome home-grown vegetables and fresh seafood from the coast. Among the most well-known Basilicatan specialities are: lucanica sausage, a pork sausage made using only top quality meat; senise pepper, usually ground into powder and used in cheeses and cured meats; and buffalo mozzarella cheese, made from the milk of local water buffaloes.
